 Beardstown Harbor

Beardstown Illinois used to have one of the nicest harbors on the Illinois River. Hundreds of boaters, hunters, and commercial fishermen used this harbor on a daily basis and it was literally packed most weekends during the summer.

Enter a few government bureaucrats and the Corps of Engineers and it's gone. In less than a lifetime, a thriving, vital part of our community  has been snuffed out.

To put it mildly, the residents of the Beardstown area are mad as Hell and we want our harbor back.

Over the last decade several people, including our mayor have attempted to do something to resolve this issue and we have gotten little or no results. If you talk to any one of them the story is always the same. There is always a dead end, or a small hurdle, or a law, or a government agency that drops the ball and stops us cold in our tracks. We are also always told there is "no money". We don't believe it. In the grand scheme of things the money we need to fix our problem is about like one of us loosing a penny.

What we need is people. Lots of people. We need to let The Corps and any other parties involved know how many people have been affected by this debacle, and we need to do it before it is too late. The time is now people, get involved!

If you would like to receive emails of any news or events pertaining to the marina please simply send us an email with your name and put "list" in the subject line. We will add you to the list! (no email addresses will be shared with anyone or for anything other than to let you know of news about the marina)
